Printing a DYMO label generates the error message "[0] Root element is missing."

Error message:

"[0] Root element is missing. [1] PrintTicket XML is not well-formed. Root element is missing. [2] Printing Error: PrintTicket XML is not well-formed. Root element is missing. ": Bad Request

Cause

  • MSXML isn't installed or is not functioning properly on the workstation, and DYMO's installer didn't provide it.

Resolution

  • Re-run the DYMO LabelWriter installer and verify the service is installed.
  • Alternatively, download and install MSXML from a trusted and verified source (Microsoft's links no longer provide a download to the package).
