Whether you are looking to make some yearly pricing changes or cleaning up you billable items properties, Pulse™ provides flexible options to perform these updates in bulk. There are several fields that can be updated in bulk for billable items.
NOTE:
- Pricing changes will NOT affect lot pricing, tier pricing, previously generated patient estimates, or package level pricing overrides.
- Bulk updates do not display using the View Price History option in the item details.
- Bulk updates cannot be reversed. A billable items report should be run PRIOR to any bulk update.
Inventory Items
Available Fields: The following fields and options are available using the Update Options section:
- Allow Price Change- Sets the value of this control to True or False for all filtered items.

Cost
- Set Value - Sets the cost of the filtered items to the same value. This will automatically recalculate and update Markup.
- Increase by Percentage (%) - Increases the cost of the filtered items by the percentage entered. (ex. $100 item with 5 entered will make the item $105).
- Decrease by Percentage (%) - Decreases the cost of the filtered items by the percentage entered. (ex. $100 item with 5 entered will make the item $95).
- Increase by Amount - Increases the cost of the filtered items by the value entered.
- Decrease by Amount - Decreases the cost of the filtered items by the value entered.
- Exclude from Percentage Discount - Sets the value of this control to True or False for all filtered items.
- Exclude from Production Calculation - Sets the value of this control to True or False for all filtered items.
- Hide on Invoice - Sets the value of this control to True or False for all filtered items.
- Make Active/Inactive - Sets the value of this control to Inactive or Active for all filtered items.

Markup
- Set Value - Sets the markup to the value entered. This will automatically recalculate and update Price as well.
- Increase by Amount - Increases the markup percentage of the filtered items by the amount entered. (ex. item with 200% markup and 25% is entered for amount change will make the markup 225%). Markup percentage must exist to use this action. This will automatically recalculate and update Price as well.
- Decrease by Amount - Decreases the markup percentage of the filtered items by the amount entered. (ex. item with 200% markup and 25% is entered for amount change will make the markup 175%). Markup percentage must exist to use this action. This will automatically recalculate and update Price as well.

Price
- Set Value - Sets the price of the filtered items to the same value. This will automatically recalculate and update Markup if it exists.
- Increase by Percentage (%) - Increases the price of the filtered items by the percentage entered. (ex. $50 item with 10% entered will make the item $55). This will automatically recalculate and update Markup if it exists.
- Decrease by Percentage (%) - Decreases the price of the filtered items by the percentage entered. (ex. $50 item with 10% entered will make the item $45). This will automatically recalculate and update Markup if it exists.
- Increase by Amount - Increases the price of the filtered items by the value entered. This will automatically recalculate and update Markup if it exists.
- Decrease by Amount - Decreases the price of the filtered items by the value entered. This will automatically recalculate and update Markup if it exists.
- Service Fee - Sets the Service Fee field for filtered items to the value entered. To remove a Service Fee, set the fee to $0.00.
- Tax Level - Sets the Tax Level for the filtered items to the value selected in the drop down list based on practice tax levels defined.
To update Inventory Items:
- Go to the Menu > Inventory > Inventory Management.
- Filter desired results by Search Options and Advanced Search Options.
- Expand Update Options.
- Select desired Action to update (if applicable).
- Select desired Value to update.
- Click Update Items from Search button. The number of records being updated will appear in parenthesis.
- Confirm or cancel updates by selecting Yes or No on the prompt.
Services & Labs
Update Options: The following options are available using the Bulk Edit interface:
- Cost ($) - Sets the cost of the selected items to the same value. This will automatically recalculate and update Markup if it exists.
- Cost (% Increase) - Increases the cost of the selected items by the percentage entered. (ex. $100 item with 5 entered will make the item $105)
- Cost (% Decrease) - Decreases the cost of the selected items by the percentage entered. (ex. $100 item with 5 entered will make the item $95)
- Cost ($ Change) - Changes the cost of the selected items by the value entered. Entering $1.00 will increase each item by that amount while entering -$1.00 will decrease the value.
- Price ($) - Sets the price of the selected items to the same value. This will automatically recalculate and update Markup.
- Price (% Increase) - Increases the price of the selected items by the percentage entered. (ex. $100 item with 5 entered will make the item $105)
- Price (% Decrease) - Decreases the price of the selected items by the percentage entered. (ex. $100 item with 5 entered will make the item $95)
- Price ($ Change) - Changes the price of the selected items by the value entered. Entering $1.00 will increase each item by that amount while entering -$1.00 will decrease the value.
- Markup - Sets the markup to the value entered. This will automatically recalculate and update Price as well.
- Markup (% Increase) - Increases the markup of the selected items by the percentage entered. (ex. 25% item with 100 entered will make the item 50%). This will automatically recalculate and update Price as well.
- Markup (% Decrease) - Decreases the markup of the selected items by the percentage entered. (ex. 25% item with 20 entered will make the item 20%). This will automatically recalculate and update Price as well.
- Service Fee ($) - Sets the Service Fee field for selected services to the value entered. To remove a Service Fee, set the fee to $0.00.
- Allow Price Change at Checkout - Sets the value of this control to True or False for all selected items.
- Show on Invoice - Sets the value of this control to True or False for all selected items.
- Include in Provider Production - Sets the value of this control to True or False for all selected items.
- Allow Discount - Sets the value of this control to True or False for all selected items.
- Species Restriction - Adds the species selected to the restriction list for each item selected. If the top option "Remove All Species Restrictions" is selected, all of the potentially multiple restrictions for those items are removed.
To update Services and/or Labs:
- Go to the Menu > Settings > Products & Services > Services or Labs.
- Filter and select items to be updated.
- Click Edit.
- If other fields need to be updated, click +Additional Change and fill in the field and new value.
- Once all desired changes are entered, click Update # Items where # is the number of items you have selected.

Selecting Multiple Pricing Field to Edit - Some price related fields can be edited at the same time, but several are prohibited as they would cause inconsistent results. The field combinations below can be edited at the same time:
- Cost & Markup (price is automatically updated)
- Cost & Price (markup is automatically update)
- Activate - Activates all selected items. If Active and Inactive items are selected, active items will stay active.
- Deactivate - Deactivates all selected items. If Active and Inactive items are selected, inactive items will stay inactive.
- Delete - Deletes all selected items.
- Cancel - Deselects all items and closed the Bulk Edit interface.
Note: Catalog changes may take some time to process in the background. An alert will display when all items have been updated.
