Combination Vaccines
- Goal: We want to generate two individual vaccination entries for a combination vaccine.
Combination vaccines like DAPPL/DHPPL/Feline Rabies with Distemper may have different vaccine expiration dates -- depending on the series and what the patient has received.
This article will review steps needed, using the DA2PPL combination vaccine as an example.
1. Create a single inventory code for your vaccine vials. This code is where you'll assign:
- Quantity On-Hand
- Lot information
- Hide on Invoice
2. Create a service code for each booster length (ex: DA2PP/Lepto 3 weeks, DA2PP/Lepto 1 yr)
- Reminders: create a single reminder for distemper booster only
- Reminder associations: first booster shouldn't satisfy anything, second booster should satisfy the first booster, third booster should satisfy both first and second booster.
- Is Vaccine: name set as individual component of combination vaccine
- Linked Inventory - set to the previously created INV code
3. Create a single service code for varying booster length (ex: DA2PP 3yr)
- Reminders: Create a vaccine reminder
- Reminder association: satisfy any reminders from previous distemper boosters
- Is Vaccine: name the item for the individual component of the combination vaccine
- Linked Inventory - set to the previously created INV code
4. Create a package for combination vaccine
- Set price on package itself if all vaccines boosters are the same
-
Add service codes that are meant to represent combination vaccines
5. Inactivate inventory and service codes that are included in package
- This allows for only the package, and not individual components, to be invoiced.
